While painting "Zach's Tide Pool" from photographs, this little guy was one of those little art miracles that just seemed to appear as I was figuring out how to paint it. It's one of my favorite elements of the painting, as is the little hermit crab in the following photo. These are the types of images I have to psych myself up to add to a painting, imagining they'll never come out as I would hopeâand thenâsometimes they do!
